Uniforms:

Once cadets achieve their first rank, they will receive an email with a voucher to Vanguard that can be used for uniform items, but only good for 45 days! This goes a longways. Check our supply closet first for any items that might fit. Then use your voucher for the remaining items. For more details, go to the Curry Uniform Voucher webpage.

Cadets wear the following three uniforms:

• Airman Battle Uniform (ABU's): This is our working uniform.

• Dress Blues: This is our dress or service uniform. Please wait to order these until you have completed your first promotion so you can use your Curry Uniform Voucher.

• Physical Training (PT) Clothes: Wear athletic shorts/pants (black or navy, shorts much go halfway to your knee), t-shirt (tan), white socks, athletic shoes ideal for running, and ideally spandex underneath shorts (especially those doing PT in front of the flights).

ABUs:

• Pants and blouse (shirt): We will issue one set of ABU pants/blouse if we have your size in supply. Note: smaller sizes are harder to come by. For cadets registered for Encampment, we will issue a second set of ABU pants/blouse if we have them in supply.

• ABU Accessories: One set of the following will be provided as part of your initial new member registration fee.

  • North Hennepin patch

  • Squadron tan t-shirt (worn under ABUs and used for PT)

• Combat Boots: 

Boots will be worn with the ABU, or the flight duty uniform. Black, with or without safety toe, plain rounded toe or rounded capped toe with or without perforated seam. Zipper or elastic inserts optional, mesh inserts (for “jungle boot” style) are optional; smooth or scotch-grained leather or man-made material and may have a high gloss or patent finish. The black combat boot can be worn (optional) with the service dress and service uniforms when not wearing a skirt, maternity service dress and/or maternity jumper. Laces will either be tied and tucked in the boot or tied and wrapped around the boot. No bowtie or bootlaces will be visible. Any logos will be the same color as the boot.

There is a limited selection of boots and shoes at squadron for your cadet to use, providing they fit of course.

Proper-fitting footwear is of the utmost importance!  If purchasing footwear is required, here are some websites that have relatively low prices. If you have questions regarding the acceptability of footwear you are about to purchase, please ask at the squadron.

Dress Blues:

• Dress Shoes: 

Low quarters are worn with the service uniform (black combat boots are also an option with the service uniform if pants are worn and the boots are leather). Shoes will be low quarter, oxford-style, lace-up with a plain rounded toe or a plain rounded-capped toe. Soles will not exceed ½ inch in thickness and the heel will not exceed one inch in height (measured from the inside front of the heel). Shoes will be smooth or scotch-grained leather or man-made material. Shoes will be shined; high gloss or patent finish is optional.

• V-neck white t-shirt: Required to wear under your dress shirt. Must be V-neck to be considered in proper uniform, but you can neatly convert a t-shirt if you like.
