Step 1: Set Up an eServices Account

You will receive an automated welcome email when your membership is processed with your CAP ID. You can then set up a Civil Air Patrol eServices account. Once you log in, you’ll be prompted to complete Operational Security (OPSEC) training. Because we are part of the Air Force organization, you must complete this before moving forward.

Step 2: Find Squadron Emails

To contact members, log into Civil Air Patrol eServices and select the hyperlink to the right of "Seniors in your Unit." Clicking on the person's name will open an email to them. Clicking on the boxes for multiple people will put their emails at the top of the screen for you to copy and paste to your email system.

Youth Protection: Emails between youth and adults MUST include at least two adults on the email.

Step 3: Request a MNCAP Email

We prefer all members use a MNCAP email for all Civil Air Patrol business. As a member of the Minnesota Wing, you will receive a MNCAP email tied to a Microsoft Account at no charge. Contact the Squadron IT Officer to get your new email.

Cadet Sponsors: Skip this step.

Step 4: Add Your Contact Information in eServices

It's very important for us to have full contact information for all members. Please take time to add this to eServices. Your primary email should be your new mncap email from the step above.

  • Log in to Civil Air Patrol eServices
  • Left click on your name
  • Select Contacts
  • Add at least the following:
    • Primary email
    • Primary phone

Step 5: Add Your Photo to eServices

The photo must be a headshot on a white background around 500 kb in size.

Step 6: Set up a MNCAP Account

Go to mncap.org, Members, Intranet, and select New User. Set up and account and you will find lots of amazing resources here! NOTE: This is a different password from eServices.

Step 7: Request a Mentor

Ask the Deputy Commander of Seniors to assign a mentor to you. This will be your go-to person for questions.

Step 8: Complete Basic Requirements

All Senior Members must complete the following:

Cadet Sponsor Members: Only the CAP Driver's License is required.

Step 9: Complete Level I Training

All adults should complete Level I training within one month of joining. Log into eServices, select Online Learning, Learning Management System, Go to Axis. In Axis, go to the tab on the far right for Level I. Enroll and complete each class. Be sure you also submit any surveys in order to be marked 100% complete for the class. Please complete this class first: Cadet Protection Basic Course. It is required before attending any meetings with cadets in attendance.

Then review that eServices shows all your classes as complete. Go to Professional Development, Professional Levels, Professional Levels again. Select Level I on the Select Level dropdown box. Review the Completed/Required Tasks on the blue bars for each section. For instance, the first section should show: "Completed / Required Tasks - [ 9 / 9 ]."

Your Summary Conversation will be done in person at the Squadron. When ready, contact your Education & Training Officer to setup a meeting with the Squadron Commander. In this meeting we will review cadet safety, uniforms, and duty position. We have lots of roles, big and small, where you can make a difference! Click here for a list of Duty Positions.

Cadet Sponsor Members: Cadet Sponsor members will not have a duty assignment. However, you must complete Level I and Cadet Protection Program training prior to associating in any way with CAP cadets.

Step 10: Choose a Path

You will need to select a path to ensure you are getting the correct modules for levels 2 & 3. The following training paths are available:

  • CADET: This path is tailored for members who recently served as cadets because it focuses on transitioning from cadet to senior. Members who were cadets several years ago will be more satisfied by the new member path.

  • MILITARY: This path is tailored for members who are currently serving in or formerly served in the military. If this is your path, please show your DD214 to our squadron commander.

  • NEW: This path is tailored for new members with no experience in Civil Air Patrol, who have not been in the military, and who will not receive advanced grade based on professional qualifications.

  • PROFESSIONAL: This path is tailored for members who will receive a promotion to an advanced grade based on their professional qualifications or mission related skills. See CAPR 35-5, Figure 6. Grades Authorized for Mission Related Skills and Figure 7. Grades Authorized for Initial Professional Appointments and Promotions.

Select your path in eServices by going to Professional Development, Professional Levels, Professional Levels. In the Select Level dropdown, select Level 1. Scroll down to Level 1 Group 6, Choosing Your Path. Next to the correct path, click the box to the left and enter in the current date to the right. Scroll to the bottom and click the Submit button.

EMAIL THE Deputy of Commander for Senior Members once submitted as eServices does not notify us.
